Care Instructions
Caring for Your Handmade Pottery
As each piece of pottery is handmade, proper care is essential to ensure it remains a beautiful and functional addition to your home for years to come. To help preserve the craftsmanship and beauty of your pottery, please follow these care guidelines:
1. Washing and Cleaning
Hand wash only: While our pottery is durable, it is recommended to wash it by hand using mild dish soap and warm water. Avoid using harsh detergents or abrasive scrubbers that may damage the surface or glaze.
Use a soft sponge: For cleaning, use a soft cloth or sponge to prevent scratching the surface. Steel wool or other abrasive materials should be avoided.
Dry thoroughly: After washing, dry your pottery immediately with a soft towel to prevent water spots or mineral deposits from forming.
2. Avoid Extreme Temperature Changes
No direct heat sources: Do not place your pottery directly over an open flame, or use it in the microwave, oven, or dishwasher unless explicitly stated by the kiln maker. Rapid temperature changes can cause cracks or damage the glaze.
Let pottery cool naturally: If exposed to high temperatures, allow your pottery to cool down gradually to prevent thermal shock.
3. Storage and Display
Store carefully: Store your pottery in a safe place to avoid knocks or drops. While Tamba pottery is known for its durability, like all ceramics, it can break if dropped on hard surfaces.
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight: Long exposure to sunlight may cause fading or discoloration of certain glazes. For best results, display your pottery in a shaded area.
Note: Our pottery is created using traditional, time-tested techniques, and we hope you will enjoy its beauty and craftsmanship for many years. By following these simple care instructions, you’ll preserve your piece’s integrity, ensuring it remains a beloved item in your home.
